(Tue, 17 Jun 2008 16:35:27 -0600)
Now that the sunny summer weather has set in, Brighton Corporation is pleased to announce that Kingsley Park, located in the master-planned community of Paramount in Eagle, Idaho, is near completion. The park is scheduled to officially open July 1, although the project is currently two weeks ahead of schedule. Residents are already raving about the newest addition to the long list of Paramount amenities.
Kingsley Park encompasses just over 1.5 acres of rolling grass with gentle slopes and beautiful landscaping. This park is bursting with character and offers a unique mix of recreational equipment for visitors of all ages. A large swing set is designed for kids of all ages, from toddlers to teens. Seasoned athletes and weekend warriors alike will appreciate the high school regulation half-court basketball court with a 10 foot rim. The adjoining open playing field is perfect for an impromptu game of soccer, Frisbee or flag football. We've added a number of grassy knolls and park benches throughout for fabulous views of all the action.
All the fun is encircled and interconnected with a smooth-surface walking path that invites either leisurely strolls or quick laps if you have energy to burn!
Kingsley Park is located (naturally) on Kingsley Street in the southeast corner of the community. We're sure you'll enjoy this latest addition to the Treasure Valley community where "Amenities are Paramount."

Paramount Community Yard Sale 2008 Recap
(Thu, 12 Jun 2008 17:45:53 -0600)
Well, we've concluded another successful Paramount yard sale. Whew! The Paramount yard sale has been a huge success from its humble beginning in 2005 right on through to last weekend's "Great in '08" sale. I've been a part of every community yard sale, and I'm always amazed by the whole spectacle.
The sale officially started at 8:00 a.m., however the early birds start flying in at about 6:30 a.m. I know they're just looking for the best deals and want to get to my garbage - I mean stuff - before I just throw it away at 11:30, but 6:30 is just way too early! I was in my torn up sweat pants and Old Navy summer of 97 t-shirt still trying to get organized and they're walking into my house offering me $10 for my flat panel television!
Besides the occasional brazen early bird, the spectacle I enjoy the most is what I call the junk swap. Although we have hundreds of people visit the Paramount community yard sale from all over the Treasure Valley, most of the precious items purchased only move four or five houses in either direction. The weekend before the yard sale, most of the participants are cleaning out their homes, sheds and garages with the intent of selling off unneeded items and clearing out some much needed space. But then comes the yard sale morning and they can't help but take the money they just made selling their treadmill and walk five garage sales down to buy a bow flex!
There were many winners and losers in the great Paramount yard sale of 2008. The award for "Yard Salesman of the Year" goes to Aiden Brown. Aiden sacrificed a large supply of his most cherished toys. He even managed to sell many of them with missing parts or broken appendages for way over retail value to achieve his goal of purchasing a Nintendo Wii. Although his parents have not seen anything but the back of Aiden's head since he got his prized Wii, they're happy that they can walk into his room and actually see the carpet!
Thank you to all the yard sellers and buyers that participated in the Paramount community yard sale. Don't forget that there are only about 350 days until the "Feelin' Fine in '09" sale!
See ya next year!

Second Swimming Pool at Paramount Now Under Construction
(Tue, 10 Jun 2008 10:40:02 -0600)
Brighton Corporation is pleased to announce that the second community swimming pool at the Paramount is under construction! This new pool and the surrounding Lange Park are part of Paramount Phase 16 - located just off Producer Drive and Lange Avenue in Meridian, ID. Completion is anticipated in late July 2008.
With neighborhood pools consistently ranked at or near the top of our homeowners' wish lists, the arrival of this new recreational resource is sure to bring cheers from everyone and it underscores our theme, "Amenities are Paramount."
We began the planning by seeking out the opinions of our Paramount residents to determine the preferred pool design. The response was overwhelming and we appreciate everyone's participation!
Homeowners voted in favor of a family-friendly design that is especially appealing to small children. The 30' x 60' rectangular pool features circular steps leading to a wading pool and has varying depths of 2 to 4 feet. Along with the pool, there will be men's and women's restrooms, a trellised area for shaded seating and extensive landscaping. The adjoining park area features a tot lot with additional playground equipment, a meandering walking path and plenty of room to roam and play.
Construction is moving forward at a rapid pace, so be sure to check the progress often!

New School, Road Improvements Coming to Meridian
(Thu, 07 Feb 2008 10:24:55 -0700)
Meridian, Boise and the surrounding areas here in Idaho have been growing like crazy over the past five years. This is great news, but sometimes, roads, traffic signals, schools, and other public services and infrastructure lag behind in development. To keep up with all the new growth, we at Brighton Corporation understand that private companies and government agencies need to work together to ensure real estate is properly developed with the safety, comfort and enjoyment Idaho residents desire.
Through projects like Paramount, Harris Ranch and The Boise Research Center, we’ve learned that the best way to get something done is to work in partnership with the various agencies. Here’s one example: we knew that Meridian needed a new high school to reduce the district’s overcrowding. So Brighton worked with the Meridian School District (MSD) on a viable location within the Paramount development and teamed to provide the supporting infrastructure. But the effort didn’t stop with the school. Ada County Highway District (ACHD) and Meridian City quickly realized that roadway widening and intersection signals were needed on adjacent streets such as Cayuse Creek, Linder and McMillan Roads to support the safe flow of traffic around Paramount and the surrounding areas.
Due to budget constraints, ACHD could not get to work on the new traffic signals and road widening until 2012. Going by their schedule, Rocky Mountain High School would have been put on hold for five years. This school was crucial to the district and we didn’t want residents to have to wait. So the ACHD, MSD, Brighton Corporation and others worked together to get the school open, signals installed and the street widened.
Through a Cooperative Development Agreement (CDA), Brighton Corporation and other participants helped ACHD by pre-funding the traffic signal and road-widening project. We also offered to manage the improvements through completion, and our bid for the roadway widening and traffic signal project came in well below the expected price. Because of the great partnerships between all involved, the community will get its new school on time, and Paramount residents will see an attractive facelift to nearby roads and intersections.
Great partnerships are paramount in meeting our common goals. When Rocky Mountain High School opens its doors for the first time in August 2008, the entire community will reap the rewards.

Great Schools are Paramount
(Tue, 20 Nov 2007 10:43:00 -0700)
If you have driven anywhere in the Boise and Meridian, ID area you have seen the billboards that say "Great Schools are Paramount." But do you know why?
The new Paramount Elementary School opened its doors for the first time to our community's eager students on August 27th, 2007. It is filled with new books and learning tools, including two high tech computer labs, and all the rest of the "new" things that you would expect.
But what makes Paramount Elementary truly great is the fantastic staff, avid community and parental support, and Principal Dean Brigham.
A Meridian, ID native, Dean has worked for the Meridian School District for 22 years both as a second to fifth grade teacher and, for the last 16 years, as a Principal. He is known as a strong leader that has a great way with the kids. He came to Paramount from Chaparral Elementary, but did not come alone. Many teachers and other staff members followed him here and hundreds of others applied to work under him. And as word spread that Dean was taking the job, many parents chose to move to the Paramount community or applied for the school's core literacy magnet program so their children could continue their education under his watchful eye.
Dean's philosophy is to "develop kids to be academically sound while building their character and sense of responsibility." Paramount Elementary has a student council made up of fourth and fifth grade students who act as role models to younger students and serve as a welcoming committee to school visitors - they even operate a school store during the lunch period to raise money for community projects. In addition, character trait assemblies honor students that exemplify the traits being highlighted at that time. The focus is on learning and creating lasting memories that the children will carry with them for a lifetime.
The first time you meet Dean, you see his enthusiasm and excitement for the new school. He was on the architectural design committee which resulted in some pretty great ideas that only someone who works with children can appreciate. As you walk down the halls you will see movie posters that portray desirable character traits, mounted in beautiful wooden frames that Dean made. He and his wife even hand-painted the playground, basketball court and 4 square stations. He spent countless hours during the summer making sure that everything was just right for the students on the first day of school.
Community support starts with David Turnbull, the President of Brighton Corporation which developed the Paramount Community. David wanted on-site schools for our community and that's why he donated the school's land to the district and donated funds for the opening. And enthusiastic Paramount residents formed their PTA way back in May to make sure they had everything in place to hit the ground running when classes started.
Now you know why "Great Schools are Paramount!"

Events are Paramount to our Community
(Thu, 27 Sep 2007 08:40:55 -0600)
Homes make a neighborhood, but it takes relationships to build a community. That is why events are Paramount to community value.
As a resident in Paramount, I am excited to take on the responsibility of creating a calendar of fun and educational events for our community. As I started planning these events I researched information about how critical events are to a neighborhood. For example, Neighborhood Watch, National Night Out, and other organizations have done studies that show events create safer communities and have proven to increase the value of our homes. Why? Because we get the opportunity to build relationships with our neighbors. The more people are involved in our neighborhood, the greater the sense of pride in our homes and our community.
In the past three months my children and I have chance to meet and get to know more of our neighbors, their friends and families than ever before. And we did it in a fun, relaxing environment.
Are you ready to get out, meet your neighbors, and start building our community? I’ve created a full roster of community events, clubs and classes to help you do just that. Step out and enjoy our Tailgate Series and Family Movie Nights. The Paramount University Series was made for those of you who want to learn more about Feng Shui, different dance styles, self defense and other interesting and exciting activities. Or join a Paramount Club such as Bunco, Scrap Booking, Book Club or Bingo. After all, our great neighborhood is more than just beautiful homes, its building relationships–which is why events are Paramount!

Master Planned Communities in Meridian
(Thu, 14 Jun 2007 08:19:25 -0600)
There are several communities to choose from in the Meridian and Boise real estate market today. If you are looking for a new home, you've probably seen the phrase "master-planned community" used quite often. But when does a community qualify as a master-planned community? And what does that mean for you and your family?
Too often, a standard subdivision will say it is a "planned community" simply because there is a plat map printed on glossy paper. Unfortunately, the plat map only shows the section that will be used by that specific subdivision. The rest of the area connecting to that neighborhood may be carved out and sold to others who are only interested in their particular parcel without regard to how it will affect the larger neighborhood.
A true master-planned community is about more than mapping out the home sites in a neighborhood. When done correctly, it is not only about planning for today, but for the value and services needed to sustain your community in the future. A true, master-planned community will encompass a complete residential environment that offers multiple housing choices, a variety of amenities that can be enjoyed by all age groups, on-site schools, and retail and professional services that fit the community needs. Stringent architectural guidelines that are followed throughout the community provide a continuity of quality that is felt as much as seen. A true master-planned community is about investing in your future and the changes that future brings to your lifestyle. It’s about a sense of community where the environment and the activities connect you to your neighbors and to your neighborhood.
Encompassing most of a square mile, Paramount is Meridian's most complete master planned community. A wide range of housing choices accommodate many lifestyles and each is complemented by on-site schools, professional offices, retail and dining options, recreational facilities and multiple amenities. But it's even more than that. Paramount not only encompasses all of the service you would expect but also pays attention to the smaller details. The streets are designed to reduce and slow traffic with detached sidewalks and walking paths that provide a safer, more pleasant pedestrian environment. Of course, the architectural continuity flows from the entry monuments to the community center to professional offices. The end result is a genuine sense of place, a sense of completeness, a sense of belonging. We look forward to engaging our homeowners in our quest to build the valley's premier master-planned community.

My husband and I stumbled upon Paramount in Meridian one weekend after looking at homes for sale all over the Treasure Valley. We were considering relocating from California to Idaho. Once at Paramount, we tried to be invisible as we ran through the sales office in search of the models, expecting the normal pressure we got from the sales teams at other communities. We really loved what we saw. These were not the typical “cookie cutter” houses we were used to. These homes had character. We approached a salesperson who was very friendly and catered to our needs.
We learned that Paramount was designed with a lot of thought. An elementary school, a high school, a church and a corner of small office and retail spaces, all within the community. It is, by far, more then any other community offers. In addition, Paramount had a pool, a beautiful clubhouse, a playground for the kids to play and a full gym. In terms of the HOA fees, we were surprised. Paramount was actually less expensive but had so much more.
So here we are 18 months later. We have wonderful neighbors and enjoy community block parties several times a year. When my sister and her family came from California to visit, they loved it so much they moved here too. We are only one of many families that have other family members living nearby. Paramount is what you can call a real community and you can feel it just driving through. Just imagine how we feel living in it.
